Guest Speaker - A. K. Best
A.
K. Best is one of the most respected names in fly fishing and tying. He has
tied flies commercially for over 30 years and has fished even longer. Being
self-taught is the basis for his strong and sometimes unique opinions. His many
magazine articles over the years have provided knowledge for both the beginning
and accomplished tiers. He has authored over 100 articles in such magazines as
Mid Atlantic Fly Fishing Guide, Fly Rod and Reel Magazine, Flyfishing and
Fly Tying, and the Bamboo Fly Rod. He is also known for his excellent books
pertaining to fly tying. They include: A. K.’s Fly Box, Dyeing and
Bleaching Natural Fly Tying Materials, Advanced Fly Tying and Production Fly
Tying. He is featured on the Internet in the Fly Rod and Reel website, the
FBN website, and the Virtual Fly Shop. He is also the fly tying tool consultant
for Orvis.
A. K. Best was born
and raised on an Iowa farm and educated in Iowa public schools. He holds
both BME and MME degrees from Drake University. He served as a musician in
the 56th Army Band in Japan, and has been a professional musician and
music educator. He also has been a professional musician and music educator.
He also has been a community symphony orchestra conductor and community concert
board member. A. K. has been a fly-tyer and fly fisherman for over 30
years. He has lectured and demonstrated fly-fishing and fly-tying from coast
to coast. He has authored several books and over 100 magazine articles.

The public is invited to attend Mr. Best’s presentations on fly-fishing and
fly-tying.
During the Spring Fling there will also be raffles, prizes, and lunch
will be provided by the Cornhuskers Fly Fishers.
TICKETS FOR THE ALL DAY EVENT
ADULT: $25.00
CHILD - AGE 15 AND UNDER:
$5.00
Tickets purchased in advance of event will receive 5 free $1.00 raffle tickets.
Last minute tickets may be purchased
at the door the day of the event.
Proceeds from the event are used to fund club activities, including
fly-fishing education and conservation projects.
